![]() ![]() It's not hard to see the toll of building and remodeling. In 3-5 years we should have the home and property ready for the market. Second couple plumbed a radiant heating system, installed a basic kitchen, bath and the electrical system We purchased the upside down property and home after retiring from high stress jobs to keep ourselves busy and happy doing things what we love. The second put in an addition, the kitchen basics and 1 1/2 baths. The 1st couple framed and got the exterior buttoned up. ![]() It has cost two marriages and remained unfinished. We are completing a home that was built during the housing crash. Shabby Chic or maybe evolving Contemporary Craftsman. (as long as he respects my tools!) and I am proud to say I am spoiled rotten and so is he ! But we have very different styles but the same AUBURN hair. The saying " it is better to keep one's words "soft" in case you have to eat them!". We are rather "set in our ways" but we have learned patience with our differences. We are new to marriage and we are 50's folks who found love the second time around. We went on to build thar home and spent 17 wonderful years there. It was an unbelievable moment, there we were sharing pictures of the exact house design. Then it was one of those " show me yours and I'll show you mine." Out he came with the Sunday newspaper, saying something to the effect, "this is our home." Well, I pulled out the picture to my perfect home. I said something about finding the perfect home too. As soon as I got in the door, my husband said, " I have found our perfect home." WHAT! I couldn't believe what he was saying. I was so excited as I drove home with the newspaper. So many things were going through my mind. Well, our local paper always had a picture and info about "The House of the Week." Wow, it was love at first glance, a beautiful French Contemporary with the perfect interior. Luckily, I could have both at work, just not too much relaxing. Those Sundays can be very long when you're missing your family and I liked relaxing on weekends with the newspaper and coffee. We were planning to build a home and had spent tireless hours looking for a plan without finding "the one." At the time, my job required working every other weekend. I want to share a sweet story to emphasize how much we like the same style and design. Being a little more conservative than he allowed him to always get away with saying, " whatever she wants." He knew I spent the money wisely. He loved a nice home and whatever I wanted to buy, he was fine with it. Fortunately, my husband and I were always on the same page with ideas. ![]()
